What is a reused barcode?

Note: This Article applies to Canadian BudSense users only.

Licensed Producers (LP) occasionally reuse Product Barcodes by either fully replacing the product, or using what's called a "rotating strain ". This is done for a number of reasons around regulation: to reduce paperwork, get new products to market quicker, and potentially even lower costs.

For example, an LP's barcode that was previously registered to "Menta Fina - Flower - 3.5g" is currently being used for a different product: "Special Edition - Flower - 7g".

BudSense uses a back-end Product Database to supplement product information within customer accounts, so if the barcode was recently re-used, the database may still be associating it with the previous product's information. As a result, you may be seeing different product information from what you're expecting.

If you notice any inconsistencies in your products that may be the result of a reused barcode, please open a chat and let us know and we can take a closer look!
